RCC Library Information

How to Place a Hold

If you are unable to find a book in the RCC Library, use the drop-down menu in the catalog to select "CCLINC Libraries".

This will show the holdings of the Community College Libraries in NC Consortium (CCLINC), which you can borrow from by "placing a hold".

To borrow a book from CCLINC or if you want an RCC Library book that is checked out, use the following steps in the catalog:

  1. Click on the book title.
  2. Click "Place Hold" (first link in the box on the right of the book title).
  3. In the "Log In" box, enter "Barcode number on Student ID". For help, email library@randolph.edu (opens in a new window).
  4. The book title will display. Leave "Pickup Library" as RANDOLPH.
  5. Click "Place Hold".
  6. A box will appear with a "Success" confirmation.
  7. Click "OK".
  • You will be notified via RCC email as soon as the book is ready for you to pick up.
  • There is no charge to borrow books from other CCLINC libraries.
  • It may take 1-3 weeks to receive the requested book.

Community borrowers are limited to two hold requests through CCLINC at a time.

Can't find the book you need in CCLINC? Use the Interlibrary Loan Request - Book online form (opens in a new window) to request that we find it for you elsewhere.

Interlibrary Loan

If you are looking for an item not owned by RCC Library or CCLINC, please fill out the appropriate interlibrary loan (ILL) request form below. There is a limit of 5 interlibrary loan (ILL) requests at a time per student.

ILL Article Request

Articles requested via interlibrary loan (ILL) may or may not be available for borrowing.

ILL Book Request

Books requested by interlibrary loan (ILL) may or may not be available for borrowing.

It can take up to 1-3 weeks for interlibrary loan (ILL) requests to be processed. Students will be notified if the item they have requested is unavailable, or once the requested item arrives.

There is no charge for borrowing interlibrary loan (ILL) materials; however, students are financially responsible for lost or damaged books.

If you have any questions about the ILL process, please email library@randolph.edu

Book a Librarian

You can schedule time for personalized, one-on-one research assistance with an RCC Librarian.

We suggest one 30-minute session for basic help with finding books or a few resources, or schedule a full hour for more in-depth projects and an expanded selection of sources.

  • NOTE: When you click the link below, by default the form opens to the Student ID appointment form. Please scroll down and click the Book a Librarian box before making your appointment.
