Use Library Databases

  • to locate full-text scholarly journal, magazine & newspaper articles
  • eBooks and audiobooks
  • streaming videos

Most databases are discipline specific, so choose one that relates to your subject. For example, if you're doing literary criticism, choose Literature Resource Center.

Off-Campus access to RCC Library databases is restricted to current students, faculty, & staff.

When prompted, use your MyRCC username and password.

If you do not know your password, use the self password reset site (opens in a new window).

Search the Catalog with Summon

  • The online catalog contains the records of all the items located in the RCC Library.
  • Also included are the holdings of 83 other community college libraries that make up the Community Colleges Libraries in North Carolina consortium (CCLINC).
  • The default search is RCC Library but you can also search "All NC Community College Libraries" by word or phrase, author, title or subject.
  • You can borrow materials belonging to other libraries via Place a Hold [PDF] (requires your student ID or library card barcode number) (opens in a new window).
  • You can renew books, check due dates, and review overdue fines by using My Account (requires your student ID or library card barcode number) (opens in a new window).
  • You can search the "Reserve Desk" to locate materials by instructor, course number or course name. Reserve materials are located at the library service desk and are usually available for in-library use only.
  • Research 101 is a self-paced Moodle course that includes six modules & quizzes covering how to choose a topic, identify sources, use the library catalog, find scholarly articles, evaluate Websites, and cite sources.
  • Your instructor may require you to complete Research 101 as part of the coursework for another class.
  • You have the option to use the course independently. Research 101 is automatically listed under "My Courses" in Moodle.
