The on-campus Writing Center is available during the designated hours posted in the schedule and operates on a walk-in basis. For online writing assistance, please contact the e-Writing Center Consultant on duty by e-mail during the designated hours listed in the schedule below.

The on-campus Writing Center and e-Writing Center will also be unavailable whenever RCC is closed due to inclement weather or holiday. This includes the following: Labor Day (9/2), Fall Break (10/14 & 10/15), and Thanksgiving Break (11/27, 11/28 & 11/29).

The Writing Center is located in the R. Alton Cox Learning Resources Center (LRC) room 214.

Take the stairs or elevator to the second floor and then proceed to the back of the building to the Writing Center. The hours of operation are posted on the door.

What We Do

  • The Writing Center is a free service designed for currently enrolled RCC students who desire feedback, assistance, and guidance with college-level writing.
  • The Writing Center offers assistance through each phase of the writing process – from prewriting to revision.
  • Students can also receive help with MLA and APA documentation styles.
  • The Writing Center is staffed by qualified professionals at RCC.
  • The e-Writing Center operates by e-mail. Students must use their RCC e-mail address and include the following: a brief subject in the SUBJECT or RE line; a message with specific questions; the course/instructor information; a description of what the writing assignment entails; and draft (attached).

The Writing Center is staffed by full-time English faculty and other qualified professionals at RCC. Writing Center consultants work one-on-one with students to coach them through the writing process.
