Goals & Learning Outcomes

Research 101 is a self-paced course provided by RCC Library. The goals of this course are to help you understand the stages of the library research process, gain valuable information literacy skills, and successfully complete research assignments.

You can use this course to help you learn how to:

  • Choose a research topic and use it to create a research question.
  • Develop a research strategy.
  • Conduct ongoing research to refine your research question.
  • Analyze and review your sources.
  • Use information effectively by synthesizing and citing your sources.

Meet Your Librarians

Jenny Thomas has been the Randolph Community College Library Director since January 2022 and the Electronic Resources Librarian since 2014. She is an Asheboro native. She received her BA in Art History and Museum Studies and her Master of Library and Information Studies degree from The University of North Carolina Greensboro. Jenny enjoys crafts, watching movies, listening to audiobooks, and spending time with her husband, daughter, dogs, and friends. Ashlea Johnson has been the Randolph Community College Instructional Services Librarian since June 2022. She is from Reidsville, NC. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from The University of North Carolina Greensboro. She has taught 3rd and 4th grades and worked in both public and academic libraries. Ashlea loves literary fiction, movies, museums, music, and traveling.
